Nearly 200 pieces of modern, classic and contemporary art, created by 100 students at The Sixth Form College Farnborough are being exhibited at the London Headquarters of Fujitsu this September.

These incredibly talented students were guests of honour at a reception on Thursday 4 September, hosted by Michael Keegan, Head of Fujitsu’s £1.8 billion ICT business in the UK and Ireland, where they spoke to senior management and employees about what inspired their work. Fujitsu personnel have the opportunity to view an on line version of the exhibition and give personal feedback on the pieces, as well as purchase print versions of the artwork to help raise money for Fujitsu’s chosen charity “Action for Children”.

The exhibition is the latest collaborative event organised by Fujitsu and The Sixth Form College Farnborough. The College recently launched a dedicated Business Unit, B6, led by Director of Community Engagement, Christine Eustace, who stated “The role of B6 is to develop links with businesses and community organisations. I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to work with Fujitsu on such an inspirational project for our extremely talented students and look forward to many more joint ventures in the future.”

Michael Keegan, Head of Fujitsu UK & Ireland, commented:

“As one of the country’s most innovative IT companies, Fujitsu are proud to have hosted the exhibition; and as the head of Fujitsu in the UK & Ireland, it was a pleasure for me to meet so many of the artists who contributed their works. Fujitsu is a people business, with creativity at its heart. Showcasing the artwork in the foyer of our London headquarters allowed us to demonstrate this to our many customers across the Public and Private Sectors.”

Andrew Needham, Chair of the Corporation, The Sixth Form College Farnborough added that “The College greatly values collaboration with Blue Chip companies like Fujitsu. We are immensely proud of the talent of our students that enable relationships of this quality to flourish to everyone’s benefit.”

Hanno Niemand, Curriculum Manager for Photography at the College said ”The calibre of the work of these student artists reflects the wide range of technical and creative skills our students explore within the A-level Art and Design courses. In 2014 the exam results for this cohort of artists were amongst the best in the country and the majority of these students will move on to undergraduate courses in Art and Design”.

Ben Simpson an art student whose work was included in the exhibition said “It is great that our College has this link with a company like Fujitsu and that they have offered us this opportunity”. Serena Simpson, whose artwork was also chosen to take part commented “I really appreciate that Fujitsu picked me to exhibit my work”.
